The Dentist and the Crocodile by Roald Dahl

The crocodile, with cunning smile, sat in the dentist's chair.
He said, "Right here and everywhere my teeth require repair."
The dentist's face was turning white. He quivered, quaked and shook.
He muttered, "I suppose I'm going to have to take a look.""I want you," Crocodile declared, "to do the back ones first.
The molars at the very back are easily the worst."

What is going to happen to the crocodile? Or is anything going to happen to the Crocodile? Maybe something will happen to the Dentist....We know that Crocodiles have a lot of teeth but we do not know what that will lead to. Read this book to find out what is going to happen!

In this poem it is consider such because there is some rhyming in the poem as well as some rhythm so I feel like the kids will love to read this. Hopefully it will be a little more suspenseful for them but funny at the same time. This also has to deal with a animal that is going to the dentist so it is supposed to be funny for them.

  1. I feel like I've heard of this book before, but I honestly can't remember what happened. Your recap of the book was intriguing and, not going to lie...I want to go read this and see what it's all about! You were descriptive in the way that you explained the lines in relation to poetry and made it very easy to understand. I see that this would be fun and relatable for young students and is definitely something that would be valuable in my future classroom! Great job!

I can tell that there is some rhyming and rhythm as well with the excerpt you have provided. I feel like future students will really enjoy reading this poem in class.
